Belly River Campground - Waterton National Park Camping

Belly River Campground Waterton
Typical view from Belly River Campground

Belly River Campground is a very secluded, primitive style campground with all the privacy you could ask for! The campground is absolutely beautiful, with plenty of trees, views, and is the best campground in Waterton National Park to connect with nature.

The campground is usually open from 17 May to 2 September. The campground operates on a "first come first serve basis", you should be able to find a place most weekends

except possibly on long weekends.

It offers communal spaces, fire rings at each site and food storage at each site. The campground is located very near the Montana border. This is a true wilderness experience!

Belly River Campground, Waterton also has 2 fantastic group camping areas that have their own communal spaces and washrooms - minimum 25 people are required to book these (done over the phone)

Dogs are also permitted at the campground but must be on a leash at all times. The campsite is regularly visited by plenty of wildlife so be sure you come prepared!

Our Review - Belly River Campground Alberta

Belly River Campground Reviews - we stayed there in May of 2024 and we absolutely loved it. The scenery surrounding the the campsite is absolutely beautiful, it is very quiet and the camping sites are very spacious and secluded. We were happy to have our own firepit as well.

However, the only downside to this campground is that you are looking at roughly a 30 min to get into the townsite of Waterton, and probably further to your activities.

If you're planning to stay here, make sure you stop by in the early afternoon to guarantee yourself a spot!
